THE HOTEL
Atrina Canava 1894 boasts a long lasting history, dating back to 1894. This is the time when our great grandfather was the proud owner of two traditionally built caves, which in Greek are called “canava”. He used the caves for the first process of making wine, meaning treading grapes. Santorini is world renowned for its singular wine production, thanks to the distinctive weather conditions and the soil quality, the minimum humidity and rainfall throughout the year and the meticulous wine aging in these special caves.
Having carved his signature on the wall of the main cave, our great grandfather wanted to be remembered by in the future and thus left his legacy that lives on till today. As the years went by, the caves passed on to the next generation and the next after that. After having laid solid foundations, we started rebuilding the two caves and eventually created a complex of traditional houses that are built in perfect alignment with the architecture of the island.
Contemporary luxury and convenience is blended most wonderfully with the traditional nature of the initial structure at Atrina Canava 1894, depicting the uniqueness of this place and the spectacular beauty of Santorini that remains intact throughout the centuries!
